While I agree with you in general about the Christmas songs, I still have one that sticks with me: “Jingle Bell Rock” I think the singer is Tommy Helms–It’s not about the true Christmas, but just gives my soul a lift when I hear it. Christmas seems to be a time when anyone who ever was a “celebrity” has free reign to cash in–let it all STOP!

Meals from the Heartland was excellent again this year! This was my second time volunteering, and I brought my family along this year.It was such a neat experience for all of us. Nicely done. I (literally) can’t imagine what it must feel like to be hungry, and then wait for a truck filled with meals and hope to roll into my neighborhood. You’d be hard-pressed to find another pro bono client who is saving more lives in the world.

Having a good client who is patient, understanding and practical, and who is willing to acknowledge the boundaries of their own expertise, makes the project more enjoyable (and most times more successful) for both parties. If you get the sense in introductory meetings that a client has unrealistic expectations or will inevitably wield an unnecessary hammer of authority, it might be beneficial to recommend that client to another agency.
